Implied Chek Box Frame
Overview
The Implied Chek Box Frame is a simplified representation of the Chek Box Frame. It can be used to frame images in a square where the Chek Box Frame is implied. It can also be used with the Chek Supergraphic for an added impactful sense of brand.
Look for opportunities to close crop content of an image and bleed it out of the square to add an engaging pop-out effect.
Formats
The Implied Chek Box Frame can be used on any vertical, horizontal or square layout. At least two sides of the Implied Chek Box Frame should be apparent in all layouts with a few exceptions, eg. layouts using multiple Implied Chek Box and Chek Box Frames.
Special care must be taken to establish the appropriate thickness of the Implied Chek Box Frame for a consistency across all layouts.
Implied Chek Box Frame thickness
General rules have been established to acheive the desired thickness of the Implied Frame.
Determining the Implied Frame thickness
A – Represents the thickness of the Implied Frame. (A) is equal to a specific percentage of the layout's shortest side.
Calculation example, for a 300×600px layout, the shortest side being 300px:
A – 300px × 7.5% = 22.5px – Implied Frame thickness.
Underneath each of the following layout formats, percentages are assigned to calculate the Implied Frame thickness.
Vertical layouts
Thickness for Implied Frames that are equal to the width of a layout
A – Implied Frame thickness is 6.5% for layouts with a 2:1 ratio or less.
B – Implied Frame thickness is 8.5% for layouts with a greater than 2:1 ratio.
Thickness for Implied Frames that are larger than the width of a layout
A – Implied Frame thickness is 6.5% for layouts with a 2:1 ratio or less.
B – Implied Frame thickness is 10.5% for layouts with a greater than 2:1 ratio.
Thickness for Implied Frames that are equal to or less than half the width of a layout
A – Implied Frame thickness is 5% for layouts with a 2:1 ratio or less.
Horizontal layouts
Thickness for Implied Frames that are smaller than and equal to the height of a layout
A – Implied Frame thickness is 6.5% for layouts with a 3:1 ratio or less.
B – Implied Frame thickness is 8.5% for layouts with a greater than 3:1 ratio.
Thickness for Implied Frames that are larger than the height of a layout
A – Implied Frame thickness is 6.5% for layouts with a 2:1 ratio or less.
B – Implied Frame thickness is 8.5% for layouts with a 2:1 – 4:1 ratio.
C – Implied Frame thickness is 10.5% for layouts with a greater than 4:1 ratio.
Thickness for Implied Frames that are greater than half the width of layout
A – Implied Frame thickness is 13.5% for layouts with a greater than 5:1 ratio.
Thickness for Implied Frames that are equal to or less than half the height of the layout
A – Implied Frame thickness is 5% for layouts with a 2:1 ratio or less.
Square layouts
Thickness for Implied Frames that are equal to the size the layout
A – Implied Frame thickness is 8.5%.
B – Implied Frame thickness is 6.5%.
Thickness for Implied Frames that are smaller than the layout
Thickness for Implied Frames that are equal to or less than half the width of the layout
A – Implied Frame thickness is 3%.
This applies to both Implied Frames that bleed or do not bleed.
Implied Chek Box Frame violations
A – Never show less than two sides of the Implied Chek Box Frame.
B – Never adjust the thickness for the Implied Chek Box Frame.
