Photography Overview
Photography is a powerful and essential part of the Sport Chek brand. Our images help us connect with our customers in a variety of ways. They can be inspirational, functional, demonstrative and emotional and showcase our products that celebrate sport and activities with everyday Canadians.
We organize our photography into three main categories styles:
Inspirational Photography
This photography style celebrates human moments and focuses on telling a visual story. The primary focus is capturing talent in authentic moments and seasonal activities showcasing clothing and gear in their natural environment.
It features Sport Chek merchandise but the primary focus is on people and the authenticity of sport. Looks are made up of priority Equity brands or Seasonal categories and themes. Because their purpose is not the specific evaluation of merchandise, these images can live longer in our ecosystem and are flexible enough to represent categories or themes during the seasonal calendar.
We use this style to support upper to mid funnel applications across web, A-spots, email, social, multi-vendor and POP.
We use real people or athletes in this photography style. Go to Inspirational Photography
Functional Location Photography
This type of photography still showcases the product in an aspirational light, but focuses specifically on product style and functional details for priority brands and seasonal categories or themes.
We use Functional Location Photography when we need to hone in on product details in authentic scenarios. We do this by choosing locations that leverage real-life settings and environments.
Budgets are mid-range, while shot setups and angles are more controlled, designed to showcase product and details in the best light.
Functional Location photography supports mid-funnel applications across web, A-spots, email, banners, flyer, social, online and can be used for Shop the Look requirements.
We see people in this style of photography but the focus should be on the products being displayed.
Functional Location Photography is always shot in real-life settings. Go to Functional Location Photography
Functional Studio Photography
This type of photography is straightforward and focuses on the style and functional details for both on-figure and laydowns.
These are typically lower-budget shoots shot on a simple background with minimal props used, showing the best angle that highlights the quality and details of a product.
Functional Studio Photography supports low to mid-funnel applications across email, social, multi-vendor, banners, flyer, online and Shop the Look requirements.
We see people in this style of photography for on-figure, but the focus should be on the products displayed.
Functional Studio photography is always shot in studio in a controlled environment with proper lighting. Go to Functional Studio Photography
