Special print
Every year, Canadian Tire publishes a set of special print books and catalogues which aim to educate and inspire customers to shop with us. These books run independently from the flyer program and feature their own promotions. Special print books have their own design systems to help create consistency between issues.
Special print program summary
There are four types of special print books: Inspiration, Ultimate, Outsider and Driver. Each of these types have unique strategies that support different business needs and visual identities to help our customers tell them apart. Though each type of book has unique qualities, they all use some of the same foundational elements that create a level of consistency between books.
Inspiration books
The most commonly reoccurring series of special print books in the program are the Inspiration books. These books focus on inspiring our customers with large lifestyle images and creative page layouts. These books typically target the different seasons and contain seasonally relevant products.
Ultimate books
The Ultimate books are the second most common type of book. These books are brand-driven and commonly focus on an overarching theme such as a category (or small group of categories), or a retail department.
Outsider catalogue
The Outsider catalogue occurs two times per year and focuses on selling and educating our customers on the assortment of sports and seasonal products we sell. They target outdoor enthusiasts and cover a wide range of categories such as fishing, camping, outdoor adventure and hunting.
Driver catalogue
The Driver catalogue occurs once per year and targets our truck owning customers. The goal of Driver is to create awareness of the breadth and depth of our automotive department and the products we carry to customize one's vehicle.
