Footer & legal zones


The Special Print program has two versions of footers. Each book must select one of the two options based on whichever will best support the book’s strategy. Under the footer is the legal zone. This zone is dedicated to legal copy related to the product and offerings on the page, regardless of the choice of footer.

The Brand Footer is made of two elements: The Signature and the basebar.

A – The Brand Signature must sit a 1/2 leaf from the left edge of the footer zone and right edge of the Signature zone.

B – The Triangle Element must have a1/2 leaf clear space on either side.

 

The Signature zone includes a variation of the Brand Signature and is contained within a masked version of the Triangle Element. The Brand Signature must remain left aligned with 1/2 leaf distance from the edge of the Signature zone. The Signature zone is variable in width and must have a minimum of a 1/2 leaf between the Brand Signature and the left-most edge of the Triangle Element. The default colour for the Signature zone is CT Red but can recoloured to one of the other Canadian Tire Brand Colours.

A – Logo height cannot exceed that of the Brand Signature.

B – Brand logos must be fully justified within the basebar zone.

C – Brand logos must have enough contrast that they are visible and should aim to pass accessibility standards. They can be placed as reversed/knockout or in colour so long as they have enough contrast with the basebar background.

 

The basebar is a required element within the footer zone that contains a variety of brand logos matching those featured in the book. The logos must be fully justified, equally spaced and sit 1⁄2 leaf from the tip of the Triangle Element containing the Signature. The basebar should always appear in CT Soft Black.

Integrated footer

A – The Brand Signature requires 3 leaves of clear space above the Brand Signature.

B – The Brand Signature must sit a 1/2 leaf from the edge of the feature image zone.

C – The Brand Signature must appear 1 grid unit in width.

 

The integrated footer is a subtler option of the footer with a smaller presence than the Branded Footer. This version of the footer allows for the Brand Signature to sit within the feature image zone. The Brand Signature should always appear in the bottom left corner with a 1/2 leaf distance between it and the edge of the feature image zone. This integrated footer requires a minimum of 3 leaves of clear space above and should always appear as 1 grid unit in width.

Legal zone

The legal zone exists under the footer zone and contains any legal copy related to the page, regardless of the style of footer used. Copy in this zone should be limited so as not to overwhelm the footer and its messaging.
