Dates, numbers & time
Dates
Dates should be formatted according to CP style. When referencing one month, write the full name with the date.
Only mention years if dates run in between years.
Do not use “th” as in 24th.
Abbreviations
*Note: March, April, May, June and July are never abbreviated.
When referring to a month with no date, always write it in full.
Days of the week
It’s best practice not to use “yesterday” or “tomorrow” when possible. To avoid confusion, name the day. Ends today is acceptable.
The days of the week should not be abbreviated.
Numbers
The general rule of thumb for numbers in writing is to spell them below 10. In retail, we don’t need to follow those rules in order to highlight value. Numbers in the thousands require a comma.
Time & Time Zones
According to style guides, a.m. and p.m. should be lowercased with the letters separated by a period. Time zones should be abbreviated and capitalized.
