Weekly Callouts

Some promotional events run for multiple weeks and require the active week to be called out in addition to the lockup. These banners contain high priority time related information and can be seen in programs such as Black Friday, Tire Sale or Mega Sale. The use of these banners in conjunction with a lockup will be determined based on the Omni-Channel direction of the event.

Variations

The Weekly Callout banners are available in both horizontal and vertical formats, three languages and three colours for maximum flexibility across all channels and promotional events. Each channel can select the banner that best fits within the their space.

Orientation

A – Vertical Narrow
B – Vertical Standard

Vertical

To accommodate vertical spaces with narrow widths. A version of the vertical banner has been made with half width outer margins to allow for application in these tight spaces.

C – Horizontal Side
D – Horizontal Bottom

Horizontal

To accommodate spaces with minimal height. Two versions of the horizontal banner are available for use. When selecting a version, ensure the direction of the banner points towards product or other messaging.

Languages

All three language options are available for use. Remember that English must be half the size of French when using a bilingual banner.

Colour

Weekly Callout banners are available in full colour and knockout as they need to work across all promotional events and Omni identities. By default, these banners should appear in CT Red. These call out banners are designed to draw additional attention to the date or duration of a promotional event. In instances where a lockup is primarily red, CT Soft Black may also be used.

For full colour breakdown information, please see the Brand Colours page.

Construction

Margins

Weekly Callout banners have equal margins in all sides with the exception of the Vertical Narrow version and in the Horizontal Bilingual banners. These margins are designed to create consistency across the variations.

A – Standard 6pt margins
B  3pt margins (half size) on left and right sides for Vertical Narrow Banner
C – Banner point (fixed angle) must be 9pt (standard margin x1.5) distance from the text

The additional text with the bilingual versions of the weekly banners cause a slight adjustment to the margin rules of the horizontal versions.

A – Half size margins on top and bottom for Horizontal Side Banner
B  Line space between copy should be equal to a half margin height
C – Banner point (fixed angle) is one standard margin distance from the text for Horizontal Bottom banner

Copy

Weekly Callout banners should contain high priority, time-related messaging and can be adjusted in size to accommodate different lengths of text. The copy should be set in CT Eastman Roman Bold and should remain consistent across messages, regardless of character count and language.

Single language—Vertical Banners

A – Text size can adjust to be full width of Vertical Banner.

B – If present, the week's numeral should appear larger than the text.

Single Language—Horizontal Banners

Text size should be consistent across all messaging and vertically centered.

Bilingual—Vertical Banners

A – French text should be full width; English should be half the size of French.

B – If present, the week's numeral should appear larger than the text.

Bilingual—Horizontal Banners

Text size should be consistent across all messaging and vertically/horizontally centered.

Positioning

The Weekly Banners are flexible in size and should always be placed in close proximity to a lockup. Use the lockup's predefined spacing when placing the callout.

The Weekly Banner should always be secondary to the event lockup. When placing a Weekly Banner, ensure its size does not exceed the height of the lockup.

Do's and don'ts

Do alter the text to fit the events needs.

Don't make a banner taller than a lockup.

Do select the best colour and variation for your composition.

Don't use Callout banners for non-time-related messaging.

Do resize the banners while maintaining the minimum margins.

Don't change the typeface or shape of callouts; don't use any colour other than those specified on this page.
